Julie McCleery, PhD, M.Ed., is Director of Research-Practice Partnerships at the University of Washington's Center for Leadership in Athletics. There she serves as the principal investigator for two projects – Ambitious Coaching and State of Play: Seattle-King County – both of which have translated into community-based efforts to ensure equitable access to high-quality sports experiences. The State of Play research served as a springboard for the King County Play Equity Coalition, a collective action network of over 100 member organizations focused on systemic change in youth sports and outdoor recreation, which Julie now helps to lead.
